Letter from the King I: Recreating Fellow Knight


Hello! It's been a while since this game was made as my first Unity project. Which received a lot of passive aggression towards the quality difference between gameplay and voice acting.
I've wanted to return to this game create it again but with a lot more content and better gameplay; building into a sequel.  Since then I've tried making this game again in many ways.
Recreating it with better controls; wasn't enough for me.
Remaking the entire thing with the same idea; was really cool but lost direction style was.
Remake it with open areas in 3D; that was cool but I just dropped it since I scoped it way up.

Today I decided to do just this. This remake won't be anything absolutely insane but it will be a new take on the game. I'll be moving away from 2D purely and into a 2D/3D style.

This is the current mockup of the new style.

Each area in the game will be open area; not open world. This will give the game more freedom as well as let me showcase more of the world. This will also be used in the sequel if it's made. This is inspired by the Paper Mario series, I love how the worlds are always open enough but not actually open world as we think about it.

A quest system will be lite but let you know what your orders from the king are as you travel. You can get these via pigeon so you won't need to worry about heading to the castle town all the time.

There will also be a reputation system in each area that can also impact other areas depending on how severe your reputation is. This reputation is determined solely by if you have killed kingsmen/monsters and how many.

I will be releasing the game as EA in chunks. So as each area is made a new update will be released to reflect this progress. A lot of work will need to go into this but I'm excited to work on it!
